Went Edinburgh last 2 days, a city which is built on HILLS. You went UPS and DOWNS, going from North to South or East to West of the City Centre. Departed from Newcastle on 0743am and reach there 0911am.
The first stop was Princes Mall which was just outside the train station and I had a McD burger for breakfast. Since then, I was deeply in love with it's breakfast burger!! Walked blindly without the city map, and miraculously, I reached the Royal Mile street where most of the attractions were located.
Went Camera Obscura, the only place where seeing is not believing, climbed up Arthur's Seat, an extinct volcano which is 250.5m high. The road up was incredibly steep. At top, you can see the whole city and the land opposite Edinburgh, which is called Fifth of Fourth. I was lost when I was coming down. I reached a place where there were many rabbits and flowers, and I thought I was in Alice's Wonderland. Miraculously, I found a way down through the bushes and nearly died when I was back to my hotel which was 45 minutes away. Canceled my plan to picture the city at night coz I couldn't move my legs anymore.
2nd day, I went to Rosslyn's Chapel where Da Vinci's Code was filmed. But the chapel was in refurbishment and some areas were closed. There were many unique carvings in the chapel and the most interesting one for me was the carvings of the 7 sins. They were unique and I was impressed by the amount of the unique carvings inside. Went down the crypt and I saw some stones that were filmed in Da Vinci's Code. But I never found the chamber where the documents were kept. I guess it never existed or the area was restricted to visitors due to the construction work going on.
In conclusion, wear sports shoes but not sneakers when you go to this city. I've got holes in my shoe and blisters as the result of it.
